Cassini Spacecraft recorded eerie sounds from Saturn
Radio emissions emanating from Saturn are weird sounds generated from the beautiful planet. There are also auroras on the huge planet, its counterparts of Earth’s northern and southern lights. These are spectacular light shows in the sky. They result from electrically charged particles flowing out of the Sun that hit a planet’s magnetic field.
The changing pitch of the sounds is probably related to tiny sources of radio waves moving along Saturn’s magnetic field lines. By changing the frequency of the sounds some think the sounds resemble voices. You can check for yourself in the video below.
Scientists still don’t fully understand the phenomenon, but may get another chance to study it in mid-2008. This is when Cassini is scheduled to fly close to, or possibly even through, the source of the sounds region at Saturn.
You may listen to the sounds directly from NASA’s website or one of the two videos below.
Alien Speech? Found in NASA’s Saturn Radio Signal
Speech patterns have been found in a radio signal released by NASA several years ago.
This is someone having fun with the signals.
